Summer’s getting hotter with the 34rd Annual Iowa State Championship Chili Cook-off coming to Cedar Rapids. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 19 at The Blind Pig (3325 Center Point Rd NE). The public is invited to visit with top chili chefs and sample the tastiest chili and salsa in the state from 2:00pm-4:00pm. A suggested donation of $4.00 for a taster cup will benefit the children and families of Tanager Place.
Chili is cooked on site, from scratch, on the day of the cook-off. Other competitions include a junior division chili cook-off and a salsa competition. The Chili Cook-off winner moves on to the national competition in Texas.
All proceeds from the event benefit Tanager Place, a non-profit organization helping Eastern Iowa’s children and families in need since 1879.
