Inpatient Intern/Practicum: Bachelor level only, social work or related field.

The student will be assigned to a Cottage Supervisor.  The student will assist with the direct care and milieu treatment of clients.  The student will be considered a member of an interdisciplinary team and work cooperatively with all team members.  Students will assist in providing long-term, goal-oriented care for children and adolescents.

Inpatient Intern/Practicum: Master level only, social work or related field.

The student will be assigned to a Master’s Level Program Therapist.  Areas covered in a practicum student placement are tailored to the student’s needs and the program’s needs. Experiences may include individual counseling, group counseling, co-facilitation, attending treatment team meetings or working with childcare staff in the cottage milieu.

Community Relations Intern: For public relations or marketing majors.

The student will be assigned to the Director of Community Relations.  This internship will focus on coordinating and marketing Tanager Place special events and fundraising opportunities.  Practicum responsibilities include writing press releases, working with print and broadcast media, working with volunteer committees and assisting with special events.

Administrative Assistant Intern: For administrative assistant or similar programs.

The student will be assigned to a clerical supervisor. This internship will focus on the different aspects of working in a busy office setting.  Experiences may include using different types of office equipment, using a multi-line telephone system, filing, data entry, and typing.  The student will increase their skills in the areas of organization and time management associated with providing clerical support to members of their assigned team/department in a non-profit agency.

Additional Opportunities

Tanager Place offers a variety of internships for associate, bachelor, and master level degrees. Internships are an unpaid position with the agency and require flexibility in scheduling of hours.

Past internships have included: Community/Public Relations, Recreation, Expressive Arts, Social Work, Education, and Human Resources/Business. These internships have covered a wide variety of degrees.
