Tanager Place Summer Fest 2012

Located along Collins Road, this family-oriented event offers a large variety of family activities, ample parking and high visibility. 

Admission is FREE with nominal fees charged for inflatable rides and concessions.  This is an affordable evening for everyone.  The event costs are underwritten by sponsorships.  The Festival activities currently confirmed include:

 

Volunteers Needed for Summer Fest!

We invite you to be part of our volunteer team.  Maybe you’ve volunteered with us in the past and would like to do a similar position this year.  Maybe you’re looking for a new challenge.  Or maybe you’ve never volunteered for the Festival and are looking for a fun and entertaining way to help the children and families served by Tanager Place.

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Hot Air BalloonHot Air Balloon Ascension at 6:30 p.m. and Balloon Glow at Dusk (weather permitting).

Safety Town Tent - Coordinated by the Rockwell Child Development Center, this area features 35 health and safety interactive activities.

Children’s Hands-on Tent - Features 40 different popular crafts.

General Mills Make Your Own Cereal Tent - Offers the opportunity for children to create their own cereal mix while learning the importance of eating a healthy breakfast.

Video Games Etc.Be a part of a gaming area with video games, systems, tournaments and more. 

9-Hole Miniature Golf - Sponsored by First Iowa Insurance Agency, Inc./Allied Insurance.

3rd Annual Rev’ved Up 4 Tanager Place Kids Charity Car Show & CruiseSponsored by Eddie’s Rod & Custom. This car and motorcycle show will be one for everyone to enjoy!

Stage - Various entertainment throughout the Festival includes: jugglers, magicians, dance performances, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations and music by Vibrations Disc Jockeys.

St. Luke’s Hospital Bike Helmet Giveaway  - St. Luke’s Hospital will be giving away 1,000 bike helmets.

Bike RodeoCedar Rapids and Marion Police Departments will teach children safety for summer bike riding.

Mascot ManiaBack by popular demand every year, area mascots will be roaming the Festival from 4:30-6:30 pm.
