Summer Camp
Tanager Place has the only summer camp program in Iowa that offers seven one-week sessions that are free to disadvantaged children.
Hemophilia Camp
Tanager Place conducts the only camp in the Midwest for children with hemophilia.
Diabetes Camp
Tanager Place provides one of only two camps in Iowa for children with diabetes.
Founded in 1879
Created by a group of Cedar Rapids volunteers, the agency for many years was known as The Children’s Home of Cedar Rapids. Tanager Place is one of the oldest children’s agencies in Iowa.
Expressive Arts Program
This program is unique to Tanager Place and enables children to communicate through the use of the visual arts, music and creative writing.
On-Campus School
Tanager Place is one of three organizations in Iowa that provides its own school program on campus.
PMIC (Psychiatric Medical Institution for Children)
Tanager Place created this level of care in Iowa and was the first such facility in the entire state.
Child and Family Policy Center
Tanager Place created this nonprofit policy center in order to link research on children and families with public policy. It is dedicated to strengthening Iowa’s families and providing development opportunities for Iowa’s children.
Specialized Intellectual Disability Program
Utilizing collaboration from a number of community-based organizations, Tanager Place created this one-of-a-kind program to treat children with both behavioral and intellectual disabilities.
Mental Health Clinic
Tanager Place is the only child-specific outpatient clinic in Eastern Iowa.
