Special Events
Volunteer to help with the annual Summer Festival and other fund raising events as well as on campus special events (dances, holiday parties).

We welcome individuals and small groups who would like to volunteer their time to assist our agency. Tanager Place designs its volunteer opportunities to meet the needs of the children we serve while complying with confidentiality guidelines. We are flexible and work hard to match volunteer interests and availability to the needs of our organization.
Volunteer Directly With Children
Campus Volunteer
Assist with group activities, recreational sporting events, and crafts. Recognize birthdays, holidays or special occasions. Share a special interest of yours with a small group.
School Volunteer
Tutor a child, assist teachers with filing, grading papers, decorating for classroom parties, or become a reading partner.
Art Therapy
Work individually or with a group in graphic arts, music or creative writing sessions. Some background in art is helpful. Limited opportunities are offered.
Campus Tutor
Assist children with homework and study skills in an organized after-school program.
Adopt-a-Cottage
There are 6 cottages on Tanager Place campus. Volunteers are needed to participate in the Adopt-a-Cottage program which provides special events, holiday parties, craft activities, and/or birthday parties for a cottage with 8-12 children.
Volunteers Indirectly Helping Children
Clerical
Typing, copy work, and filing.
Camp Volunteer
Camp cleanup and construction, work with children sharing special skills, office assistance.
Maintenance
Upkeep of grounds, painting, planting trees, gardening.
Fraternity/Sorority/Groups
Adopt a cottage, recognize birthdays, holidays, and special events.
Educational Speakers
Speak to classroom in career education or special interest groups.
