Founded in 1879, Tanager Place has always believed its mission encompasses more than providing the best care possible for children and families. We also believe that advocacy is an important part of our mission, as evidenced in our program and policy interventions.
Today, children struggling with psychological, social or educational obstacles face daily challenges. These children turn to Tanager Place for healing and direction.

Our Campus
Tanager Place is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on a beautiful 24-acre campus. The campus is home to our administrative offices, inpatient program, outpatient, Mental Health Clinic, campus school, and Expressive Arts facility.

The Inpatient Program is housed in six cottages which enhance our ability to develop individualized treatment plans in the context of a small-group living environment.
Recreational facilities on campus include volleyball, walking trails, basketball, play center and a gymnasium.
Tanager Place is fully licensed by the State of Iowa and accredited by the Council on Accreditation.
