Jennifer Vanscoy, LMHC-t | School Based Therapist

Personal Statement: Everyone that I meet has a story to be told and heard. To me, the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with individuals and hear them tell their story is the very best job I can think of.  Every person I meet has a past, a present, and a future.  Although our past is a part of us, the present and what we do with our past is what defines us in the present and in the future.  It is my job to hear and understand your story, and to help you build the skills you need to have the future you want.

Fun Facts about You: I played the tuba in high school.  I love to scrapbook, garden, kayak, bike, and camp.   I also have a passion for working with teens, individuals in the correctional system, and individuals with substance abuse issues.

Why did you choose Tanager Place? I chose Tanager Place because of their mission and focus on helping children.  Children are so innocent and everyone deserves to have the best possible  life that they can have.

Therapeutic Style: Person centered therapy, using techniques from dialectical behavior therapy, Adlerian therapy, and others with intentionality and as appropriate for the client.

Education: University of Iowa, BA in Sociology and minor in Spanish; Walden University, MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
