In this workshop, play therapists with all backgrounds will increase awareness of compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, and burnout. You will learn why working with children can put you in such a vulnerable group for experiencing compassion fatigue. Participants will engaged in learning warning signs, symptoms, how to measure, and how to consciously work on increasing compassion resiliency as part of their play therapy practice.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, and burnout and how each of them can be present in play therapy practice.
  • Learn warning signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue and how they can negatively impact your relationship with play therapy clients as well as your overall practice as a play therapist.
  • Learn the 5 main skills to increase compassion resiliency as a play therapist to allow to maintain empathetic relationships with your clients.
  • Hands on work to create your very own Compassion Resiliency Plan for play therapy practice.
