Working with children can present unique ethical challenges.  In this workshop, participants will explore various considerations in providing ethical play therapy practice to clients.  Special legal and ethical considerations related to confidentiality, high conflict families, and court involvement will be specifically discussed.  Participants will identify ways that they can protect themselves and their clients, while improving the overall services they are providing.  Discussion time will be provided for ethical dilemmas and participants will be able to utilize ethical decision making models to explore these situations.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will discuss considerations in providing play therapy
  2. Participants will identify specific situations which often trigger the need for ethical considerations in play therapy, and how they can prepare from the start of treatment for managing them appropriately
  3. Participants will utilize ethical decision making models to process specific ethical dilemmas that arise in play therapy
