Holiday Angels | Art House Donation

There are many ways the generosity of the local community touches Tanager Place.  Each year, there is an opportunity to adopt or sponsor one of our six cottages, gym or one of our Expressive Arts programs.  For many area businesses and community members, this has become a holiday tradition.  This year, we were fortunate to have Holmes Murphy & Associates adopt our Art House – home to our Art Therapy Program.  Our Expressive Arts programs are completely funded by donations through events like the Expressive Arts Gala and Cards with a Cause.

What is really special about this donation is when members of St. Luke’s maintenance department learned of one of the items on Bridget Paul’s (art therapist) wish list, they stepped up to the challenge.

“One of our employees, married to an employee in the maintenance department at St. Luke’s, knew of the doors [from the birth center] that were going to be replaced and asked if they would like to partner with us for our Christmas charity,” said Lori Collum of Holmes Murphy & Associates.

Right away they came together, donating their time and materials to create custom work benches from found materials at the hospital.

“The donation of the tables are really from the maintenance guys, they pooled their own money to purchase the additional wood and used their crafty work to produce them,” she added.

We are so fortunate to be surrounded by a community that shares the gifts of their time and talents with us at Tanager Place.  Thank you to everyone at Holmes Murphy & Associates and the team at St. Luke’s for thinking of us during the holiday season!
