February 5th– 11th is National Play Therapy Week and Tanager Place is excited to celebrate! Both the Tanager Place Behavioral Health Clinic and inpatient therapists currently utilize play therapy as a modality for treatment of children, adolescents and adults on a regular basis. Many community based workers and treatment counselors are also beginning to utilize play therapy concepts in their treatment interventions. While Tanager Place is excited to celebrate National Play Therapy week, we’ve got an extra special reason we’re celebrating this year.
In October 2016, Tanager Place opened the Tanager Place Center for Play Therapy with the goal of providing quality play therapy education and training for Tanager Place staff as well as community members. The center provides monthly trainings on play therapy. Tanager Place is an approved provider with the Association for Play Therapy so all trainings count for individuals working to gain or maintain their play therapy credential. If you or someone you know might be interested in attending one of our monthly trainings, visit the Center for Play Therapy website by clicking here.
Please join us in the thanking the hard work and dedication of Tanager Place staff who utilize play therapy in their work. And take time out during play therapy week to remember to “just play”. The value of play for decreasing stress, improving relationships and increasing enjoyment is tremendous not just for children.
